Summary

The paper reviews studies that use microsimulation models of taxes and benefits in analysis of child benefits. The studies are categorised into four groups according to the main topic of inquiry: estimation of benefit incidence, the analysis of actual reforms, policy importing from other countries and conceiving original hypothetical reforms. Methods for measurement of social welfare used in these studies are overviewed. The paper discusses the main findings and recommends the pathways for further research.
