UKMOD courses
Basic training
This space contains material that can be used as a standalone, self-paced course for the latest version of UKMOD. The course material has been adapted from the face-to-face and online training sessions and is presented as a linear course that you could follow from beginning to end, or use as a refresher of the main concepts and elements of the UKMOD training.
This space contains material from the training held for UKMOD users in May 2025. The course was delivered as an online webinar to a mixed group of analysts, social policy evaluators and strategists. Uses software version 3.8.0 and a training version of the model, with training data.
Advanced training
The workshop explores the new TCO add-on (2024) for computing the impact of indirect taxes (VAT and excises).
The workshop explores the new BVR add-on (2024) for computing labour supply behavioural responses to tax-benefit reforms.
The workshop explores the new input data made available for UKMOD since version B1.08 (2023), based respectively on Household Below Average Income (HBAI) and UK Household Longitudinal Survey (UKHLS) data.
This space contains material from a 1-hour training workshop on the use of the new (2021) In-depth Analysis tool included in the EUROMOD software.
This space contains material from a 3-hour training workshop which showcased how to approach some of these trade-offs using UKMOD to simulate a Basic Income scheme. Session 1: Fiscal neutrality – introducing loops to achieve cost-neutrality when designing Basic Income schemes. Session 2: Interaction with the tax and benefit systems.
UKMOD Explore
To learn more about UKMOD Explore, the web version of UKMOD, watch our introductory video. The video contains an introduction to microsimulation modelling and UKMOD in particular, and then a hands-on description of UKMOD Explore. If you are interested in the latter part only, jump to minute 21:00.
EUROMOD courses
Note: Regular EUROMOD courses are now run by the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission.
This space contains material from the latest EUROMOD training course held in May 2021. The course material was delivered as an online webinar to a mixed group of analysts, social policy evaluators and strategists. Uses EUROMOD I3.0+ and software version 3.4.3.
