Researchers from Zagreb’s Institute of Public Finance (IPF) participated in the creation of the Croatian model, allowing analysts to simulate the impact of fiscal reform on poverty, inequality, work incentives and government spending for the policy years 2011-2015.
The next steps for the IPF are to create an extended microsimulation model for Croatia – miCROmod. miCROmod will use the EUROMOD platform but will also provide more detailed local policies (including social benefits in the City of Zagreb) and will add a ‘behavioural’ module, simulating the effects of policy reform on labour supply. The IPF envisage the model being used by policy makers and academics alike.
