New longitudinal input data for UKMOD based on Understanding Society

We are pleased to announce that new UKMOD input datasets based on UKHLS (a.k.a. Understanding Society) are now available, covering the years 2010-2019.

The data can be directly accessed through the UK Data Service (UKDS): Understanding Society: UKMOD Input Data, 2010-2019: Special Licence Access, Study Number 9147.

The new datasets work in alternative to the standard FRS-based datasets. A description of the new input data, how they can be selected from the UKMOD user interface, and a comparison with the FRS-based ones, is available in this CeMPA Working Paper.

Individuals in different waves of the UKHLS-based UKMOD input data can be linked thanks to longitudinally consistent IDs, hence allowing for longitudinal analysis of the effects of tax-benefit policies. The data can also be linked back to UKHLS, to relate UKMOD outcomes to the numerous other individual and household characteristics recorded in Understanding Society.

The new datasets will be presented in a free online workshop on November 15, 2023.
