After lunch we will present new findings on gender inequalities at work followed by a panel discussion on the policy implications.

This new research by Dr Silvia Avram and CeMPA’s Deputy Director Dr Daria Popova looks at the inequalities in job progression and factors affecting the continuing gender pay gap, in particular looking at how commuting costs restrict the available job opportunities for women (and especially mothers) and potentially result in lower wages. Professor Almudena Sevilla, London School of Economics and Chair of the Royal Economic Society UK Women in Economics Network, will present a new study on gender inequalities in academic pay.

The panel discussion participants include Dr Sara Reis from the Women’s Budgetary Group.
